The Kent’s Plumbing story
- 1971
Founded in Denham Springs
Jimmy Joe Kent and his wife, Bernice Kent, start Kent’s Plumbing Co. in Denham Springs, Louisiana. With hard work, determination, and a commitment to doing every job right, they begin building more than a plumbing company. They begin building a family legacy.
- 1975
The brothers team up
Jimmy Joe’s younger brother, Woody Kent, joins the business. The two take on any and every job they can, working long hours and earning trust one project at a time. The Kent name becomes known across the region for quality workmanship.
- 1990
The second generation
Jimmy Joe’s son, Joe Kent, takes over operations. Following in his father’s footsteps, Joe works alongside his Uncle Woody to keep growing the company. For several years they run the business out of Joe’s home.
- 1994
Incorporated
Kent’s Plumbing officially incorporates, an important milestone in the company’s growth.
- 1997
The Walker campus
The company buys an old railway loading station in Walker, Louisiana. The property becomes the foundation of today’s campus. The same year, Louise Kent White, Joe’s aunt and Woody’s sister, joins to oversee administrative operations.
- 2016
Campus expansion
Multiple buildings are added to the Walker campus to support a growing team and an increasing number of projects.
- 2019
Woody retires
After more than four decades of helping build the company, Woody retires, leaving Joe as sole owner and carrying forward the legacy his father began nearly 50 years earlier.
- Today
The third generation
Kent’s Plumbing is growing into its third generation of the Kent family: a multi-state operation licensed in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee, with its roots still firmly planted in family.
